Picking out a bow is the most important step in being a successful
bow hunter. The bow is
where all the energy need to project the arrow down range comes
from. The bow has to fit the archer’s arm length and feel good when
it is drawn back. The
bow has to be build out of high quality materials and all the parts
have to work flawless together.
When buying a bow, cost should be a low priority in deciding
which bow you will purchase.
The reason is that an $800.00 bow with the site and rest has
a cost of ownership of $160.00 a year if owned for five years.
We have the limb saver dead Zone 32 to review. The bow was sent to us to shoot the IBO competitions in New York. This is the limb savers second year of manufacturing bows. There goal is to make the smoothest and most forgiving shooting bow on the market.
The bow we have is the DZ-32 that is in G-1 camouflage. The one I’m shooting is a 31.5 inch draw with 60 pounds drawn weight. This bow has an IBO rated of 325 to 330 FPS. It has a 6.5” brace height and 32” axel to axel length. I’m getting 305 fps with Easton Fat boy arrows that weight 325 grams.
The brace height and axel to axel length makes this bow a very forgiving. I know that a lot of you out there are only looking for speed. The 325 to 330FPS may seam a little slow for an IBO bow but the most important aspect of any bow is accuracy. A forgiving bow will give you a lot more control over your shot. In turn the bow will shot a lot more accuracy.
Limb Save also goes to great lengths to make
this bow very
quiet.
The reason that this bow is so quiet is because of the silencers on
the limbs and strings.
Also the design of the bow plays an important factor.
Shooting a quite bow will
make it less likely that a deer will “jump the string”.
There are a lot of hunters out there that the think that if
you get enough speed the deer will not jump the string.
In order to get the speed, the hunter will shoot an arrow at
5 to 6 grains per draw pound.
Even this bow will be loud when shooting arrows at this
weight. My feeling
about hunting deer and other mid size animals is the
arrow should be
9+ grains per inch for every pound of drawn weight.
This will give you the penetration needed
to pass though the deer. The
other problem is that sound travels at 900 + fps even the fastest
arrow will only fly at 400 FPS.
This means that there is still time for the deer to jump the
string. With a quite
bow the deer it is much less likely to jump the string.
Limb Saver has put a lot of noise dampers on
this bow. There are two
on the bow shelf. The first
is a pad for the drop away rest to land on.
This pad prevents the fall away rest from making noise as it
hits the bow shelf.
This pad also prevents the rest from bouncing up and hitting the
arrow as it flies by.
The other noise damper is a rubber insert that lines the whole arrow
shelf. This will
silence the arrow if it falls off the rest. This is one of the best
design shelves for hunting bow that I have ever seen.
There is no need to glue mole skin on the bow shelf.
The parallel limb design gives this bow a very long riser. The parallel limb design is the reason that there is very little recoil. This design also helps to keep this bow shooting quietly. This design will give you a very long riser and a long brace height.
This bow comes with the new adjustable modular
cams. This
give you ˝”
adjustable from 25 ˝” to 30 ˝” draw.
They also sell additional modular cams for even more
adjustments. The bow
utilize high-efficiency active transfer (H.E.A.T) which is a
weight-match cams to increase speed.
These cams will allow a child to grow and still be adjustable
for them. This also
allows more adjustment for different shooters lengths.
Limb save has also gone to great lengths to make not just a great bow but they have nice cable and bow strings on it. They have the Winner Choice custom bow string with weather block technology. Their strings are pre stretched fibers. This means that the string will not get any longer. I have seen strings stretch to the point that peeps and nock had to be adjusted.
I will be shooting this bow at 3-d shoots and for hunting season. I know that I will be very happy with it. If you have any comments please post them on our message board.
Good luck
Sean
